Area Police
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state early analysis suggest the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.
An important official stated the attack rendered him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
